Giving Tuesday

In process of updating this information.

This year, on December 1st, from 6 AM to 8 PM, PST, you can choose to give to Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens through Giving Tuesday!

Giving Tuesday, which was initially started in 2011, refers to the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It is a movement to create an international day of charitable giving at the beginning of the Christmas and holiday season – a time when people are usually spending a lot of money on family and on themselves. This movement encourages people to give some money to those who need it most.

Amazingly, in 2018 alone, Giving Tuesday surpassed a billion dollars in donations. This day helps nonprofits by increasing awareness for great causes, supporter involvement, and by helping them to spread their message.

If you are a nonprofit organization, you should really be looking to take advantage of Giving Tuesday by getting as many donations as possible. There will be a lot of nonprofits fighting for attention on such a big day, so you will want to make sure your organization is at the top of the list for many. Exploring the fundraising ideas for nonprofits on GoFundMe is a good place to start.

2018 Planting Day

We are inviting all people willing and able to help us make the Gardens colorful again for 2018. Our annual planting day has been scheduled for Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:00 am. Please bring trowels and gloves (and kneeling pads if you want those). Ernie and Shirley will make sure the beds are ready, and have plant material for us to install. This usually takes about 2 hours, and is lots of fun.  Wear a hat or sun cream if it is sunny.
