Endemic to the Gardens and growing throughout the Dunsmuir area, Acer macrophllum, Bigleaf Maple, is native to stream banks and moist canyons from southern Alaska to southern California. It’s a dense shade tree growing 30 to 75′ tall and 30 to 50′ wide. The leaves turn from medium green to a spectacular yellow in fall.
