Toad Lilies

toadliliesTricyrtis hirta, Toad Lilies, are native to Japan and much more interesting than their name suggests. Resembling the native false Solomon’s seal (Maianthemum racemosum) in foliage, they have interesting, heavily spotted, inch-long flowers that appear at leaf joints and in terminal clusters in late summer and autumn. Excellent woodland companion to hostas and ferns.
